Elaine A. Clark
Elaine A. Clark has acted, directed, produced, written, cast, coached, and created enough projects to make “wearing many hats” look like a full-time wardrobe. From stage and screen to voice-over and audio production, Elaine brings equal parts creativity, curiosity, and “let’s see what happens if we try this” to everything she does. That’s what makes her a San Francisco legend.
As a San Francisco Bay Area actor, director, producer, and writer who has spent decades making things happen – Elaine A. Clark usually has a microphone nearby and a good story to tell. Always an original, Clark founded what is believed to be the first voice-over acting school Voice One in 1986. She sold the training division in 2019 to free up time to write more speech communication books, create the 52-episode Real Talking Tips micro-learning podcast, update her two speech and diction apps, share her monthly newsletters with voice actors and speakers, and finally get R3* - Actor You’re Killing Me… a farce to a professional stage and eager audiences. Because, well… everyone needs to laugh and escape from reality.
From stage and screen (did you see her as the futuristic game show host in the indie classic, Sorry to Bother You?), to voice-over, audio production, and the occasional creative adventure that seemed like a good idea at the time, Elaine has embraced the Bay Area tradition of reinventing yourself while refusing to sit still. She brings the curiosity of a San Francisco creative, the determination of an East Bay entrepreneur, and just enough California sunshine to believe that the next great idea is probably right around the corner. Whether she’s acting, directing, producing, or coaching others, Elaine’s philosophy is simple: Use your voice, tell your story, take the risk - and for heaven’s sake, make it interesting.
